2022-2023 executive board

Welcome to the Kids In Distress Auxiliary 2022-2023 season of raising awareness, volunteer/service opportunities and fundraising to support Kids in Distress.

I am thrilled to be back for a third year as the President of the KID Auxiliary! My husband Peter and I have been supporters of Kids in Distress for over 20 years.  My first year as an Auxiliary member (2014) I volunteered and attended meetings to truly understand the mission of the Auxiliary. I served as Corresponding Secretary for three years and shared Event VP duties for the KID Hero 5K for two years. The continued love and dedication I feel from our members, their families and sponsors to the children and families of KID makes me so proud to be a part of this organization. 

With our over 160 Auxiliary members and 50+ Kids Helping Kid (KHK) high schoolers we are able to continue supporting KID throughout the year with our collections and drives - starting with a Backpack collection for the first day of school, Costume collection for Halloween, Food Drive for Thanksgiving, Adopt-A-Family in December and Easter Baskets in the Spring. 

Our Respite program, Kinship and Special Activities for the KID Preschool are few of our opportunities that allow us to be “hands on” with the families that live on campus in Wilton Manors and Southwest Ranches and those that are served by the Agency.

Our fundraising efforts are supported by our Signature Event - the KID HERO 5k scheduled for January 28, 2023 at Vista View Park in Davie, FL and our Bingo event in April. 

Our KHK Thanksgiving Food Drive collected a record breaking 1800 food bags for families served by KID, Bingo was hosted at new venue and had over 120 players and raised $15,000 and we continued to provide meals to the foster homes on campus in Wilton Manors and Southwest Ranches. 

After almost two years of ZOOM, I’m thankful we saw a return to in person meetings and events.

Looking ahead to the upcoming year my goals remain the same….to grow our membership, engage our current members by going back to “our roots” of having fun and finding new ways to share our mission.
