Welcome to kids helping KID

From Julia: My name is Julia Karrer and I study at American Heritage Plantation. I am a rising Senior and I have been a part of KHK since my freshman year. I spent three years as Meeting Coordinator and a social media helper. Now, I am the Co-President, along with Maximiliano “Max” Gonzalez. Working with KHK has allowed me to become a more open minded and sympathetic individual. I have had the privilege to work side by side with the kids from both respite homes and they have taught me so much about myself; I have learned about the importance of taking action- whether little or big- to help others around us.

From Max: My name is Maximiliano “Max” Gonzalez, and I began my grand journey with the organization Kids In Distress on a sunny weekend day in March 2019 when I decided to

volunteer at an intriguing event hosted annually called the DuckFest at Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale. However, little did I know then, that as I entered high school, my involvement,

association, and overall admiration for KID would only skyrocket from there. As my passion grew, I decided to expand KID’s reach by establishing a branch of KID in my school; with me as the founder and President of the AHS/KHK Club (American Heritage School/Kids Helping Kids Club), I, along with the other members and officers, discuss upcoming events, methods on how to increase participation, including involving other clubs from school, plans for how to carry out the events, and more, further contributing to KID’s mission statement. As Co-President of Kids

Helping Kids’ (KHK) Board, I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that by knowing I am bringing smiles to children’s faces, and contributing to their betterment, I consider this to be one of my biggest life satisfactions and accomplishments, and I can’t wait to continue my role in supporting this great cause.
